Dhlote Under Construction Bridge: May be a boon to people of neighbouring area of Samba

The bridge under construction over the Basantar River in Dalot, Samba district, is set to bring significant relief to residents of the area. This bridge will serve as a major lifeline for people from villages like Jatta Gujwal, Nand, Banbh, Dand, Kaner, and surrounding areas. Currently, there is no direct route from Samba to these villages. Residents are forced to cross the Basantar River near Chole Wala Chak (Taloor) to access these areas. During winter, when the river’s water level is low, people use vehicles or tractor-trolliess to cross River Basanter for going to Samba which is only 7-8 kilometers from here. However, during monsoon season, when the water level rises, crossing becomes impossible, and they have to take the much longer route of Nud and via Gujral Road, doubling the distance.

Major Relief for Students

One of the biggest advantages of this bridge will be for students from these villages. Currently, students face a lengthy and challenging journey to reach Samba Degree College. They have to first travel via Gujwal road to Nud, and then take another ride covering a 10-kilometer distance from Nud to reach Degree college in Samba. Similarly, those attending university have to undertake the same lengthy commute. Once the bridge is completed, their travel distance will be cut in half, allowing them to attend college more easily and even pursue additional classes or tuition without hassle.

Boost to Tourism

Besides easing local challenges, the bridge will also promote tourism in the area. Several scenic spots along the Basantar River are naturally filled with clear blue water after the monsoon season, known as “Dubber” sites in Dogri. (Samba times has already published a full detailed article on this any series of tourism potential of Samba district) With this bridge, people will be able to enjoy these spots and the scenic beauty of the surrounding hills and vegetation. Iron Pedestrian Bridges will also attract tourists who come to experience the beauty and culture of small hilltop villages Hamlets and see the unique lifestyle of local residents. Increased tourism activities can positively impact the local economy as well.

Bridge Construction

The construction of the bridge is progressing swiftly, and it is expected to be completed soon. Once this bridge is ready, people will no longer need to take the long route through Nud. Instead, they can travel a more manageable 7-8 kilometers route to reach Samba Headquarters directly for shopping or other essential needs. Even the people who are living in Sumb Area in remote villages they have Direct access root to Mansar via this bridge and they will able to cut short their journey near boat 20 kms.

Conclusion

The bridge over the Basantar River in Dhlote will be a milestone in the region’s development. It will not only resolve the long-distance travel challenges faced by residents but will also save their time and make their journeys smoother. Additionally, the growth in tourism will support the economic and social development of the area.
