Encounter between security forces and terrorists in Anantnag: Two soldiers martyred, three injured
In Anantnag, security forces are engaged in an encounter with terrorists, resulting in the martyrdom of two soldiers and injuries to three others. The injured have been taken to a hospital for treatment.
The encounter is ongoing in the Ahlaan area and began when terrorists fired upon a search party. In response, the soldiers also opened fire.Earlier, on August 6, a firefight between security forces and terrorists began around 4 PM in the Basantgarh area, lasting for two hours with both sides exchanging gunfire. Due to adverse weather and fog, the security forces conducted a search operation well into the evening and intensified the cordon in the forest area. There have been no reports of any terrorists being killed yet.
The day before, in Anantnag, security forces arrested three terrorist associates. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from them. The arrested individuals were identified as Dawood Ahmad Dar, Imtiaz Ahmad Reshi, and Shahid Ahmad Dar, all residents of Hassanpora Tabela.
According to police officials, these associates were detained during a checkpoint inspection on the Hassanpora Tulkhun road. The recovery included a pistol, a pistol magazine, 8 pistol rounds, a grenade, an improvised explosive device (IED), and other incriminating materials.
