Exam Pattern Syllabus Salary of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Exams (Assistant, Grade B Officer)

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) conducts exams for the recruitment of Assistant and Grade B Officer posts. Here is the exam pattern, syllabus, and salary structure for both positions:

  1. Exam Pattern for RBI Assistant:

i) Preliminary Exam: This exam consists of 100 multiple choice questions from three sections- English Language, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning Ability. Each section contains 30 questions and carries 1 mark each. The duration of the exam is 1 hour.

ii) Main Exam: This exam consists of 200 multiple choice questions from five sections- English Language, Numerical Ability, Reasoning Ability, Computer Knowledge, and General Awareness. Each section contains 40 questions and carries 1 mark each. The duration of the exam is 2 hours.

iii) Language Proficiency Test: Candidates who qualify for the Main Exam will have to appear for a Language Proficiency Test (LPT).

  1. Exam Pattern for RBI Grade B Officer:

i) Phase 1 Exam: This exam consists of 200 multiple choice questions from four sections- General Awareness, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability. Each section contains 50 questions and carries 1 mark each. The duration of the exam is 2 hours.

ii) Phase 2 Exam: This exam consists of three papers- Economic and Social Issues, English (Writing Skills), and Finance and Management. Each paper is of 100 marks and the duration of the exam is 1.5 hours for each paper.

iii) Interview: Candidates who qualify for the Phase 2 Exam will have to appear for an interview.

  1. Syllabus for RBI Assistant:

i) English Language: Reading Comprehension, Cloze Test, Para Jumbles, Error Spotting, and Fill in the Blanks.

ii) Numerical Ability: Simplification, Number Series, Data Interpretation, Quadratic Equations, and Arithmetic.

iii) Reasoning Ability: Coding-Decoding, Seating Arrangement, Puzzles, Inequalities, and Syllogism.

iv) Computer Knowledge: Basic knowledge of Computer and Internet.

v) General Awareness: Current Affairs, Banking Awareness, and Static GK.

  1. Syllabus for RBI Grade B Officer:

i) General Awareness: Current Affairs, Indian Economy, International Economy, and Finance, Indian Polity, Indian and World Geography.

ii) English Language: Essay, Precis Writing, Comprehension, Business/Office Correspondence.

iii) Quantitative Aptitude: Simplification, Quadratic Equation, Data Interpretation, Number Series, Average, Percentage, and Ratio & Proportion.

iv) Reasoning Ability: Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, and Analytical Reasoning.

v) Finance and Management: Financial System, Financial Markets, General Principles of Credit, Risk Management, Basics of Derivatives, Development in Financial Sector, Management.

vi) Economic and Social Issues: Growth and Development, Measurement of Growth, Poverty, Inflation, Unemployment, Development, Social Structure in India.

  1. Salary Structure:

i) RBI Assistant: The initial salary of an RBI Assistant is around Rs. 14,650/- per month with various other allowances.

ii) RBI Grade B Officer: The initial salary of an RBI Grade B Officer is around Rs. 62,400/- per month with various other allowances.
