Film director Sanoj Mishra, known for offering a film role to Monalisa, the viral girl during the Maha Kumbh Mela, has been arrested by Delhi Police on charges of rape

Film director Sanoj Mishra, known for offering a film role to Monalisa, the girl who gained viral fame during the Maha Kumbh Mela, has been arrested by Delhi Police on charges of rape and coercing a woman into undergoing multiple abortions.
The arrest followed the Delhi High Court’s rejection of Mishra’s anticipatory bail application. The court expressed concern that granting bail in such cases could send a wrong message to society, suggesting that aspiring actresses can be exploited without consequence.
According to reports, a 28-year-old woman from Jhansi alleged that she met Mishra in 2020 through social media platforms TikTok and Instagram. She claimed that Mishra lured her with promises of a film career and marriage, leading to a four-year relationship during which he allegedly assaulted her, forced her into a live-in arrangement in Mumbai, and coerced her into undergoing three abortions.
The woman filed a complaint on March 6, 2024, at the Nabi Karim police station in Delhi, leading to Mishra’s arrest in Ghaziabad. He has been charged under various sections, including those pertaining to rape, assault, causing miscarriage without consent, and criminal intimidation.
Sanoj Mishra had previously made headlines for offering a film role to Monalisa, a girl who became an internet sensation during the Maha Kumbh Mela.
The investigation into the allegations against Mishra is ongoing.
