Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Passes Away at 92

New Delhi, December 27: Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, one of India’s most distinguished leaders and renowned economists, passed away today at the age of 92.

Dr. Singh, who served as India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, was widely respected for his economic reforms and leadership. As the architect of India’s 1991 economic liberalization, he played a pivotal role in transforming the country into one of the fastest-growing economies in the world.

Born on September 26, 1932, in Gah, now in Pakistan, Dr. Singh was known for his humility, integrity, and intellect. A recipient of the Padma Vibhushan, he held several key positions, including Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, Finance Minister, and Member of Parliament.

Dr. Singh’s tenure as Prime Minister was marked by landmark initiatives such as the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and the Indo-US Civil Nuclear Agreement.
