Jammu, J&K: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) Chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad has expressed concern over the deteriorating situation of minorities in Bangladesh and emphasized the importance of restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking on the situation in Bangladesh, Azad remarked, “The situation in Bangladesh is not what it was earlier. India had good relations with the previously elected government of Bangladesh. Both countries shared a unique similarity where people of all religions lived peacefully together. However, the current situation of minorities in Bangladesh is unfortunate. The present government there has not been successful in ensuring the safety and security of minorities. Minorities should feel safe, not just in India, but in every country across the world.”

Turning his focus to Jammu and Kashmir, Azad reiterated the need to restore its statehood. “The restoration of statehood in J&K is very important,” he asserted, highlighting that it remains a key demand for ensuring the socio-political and economic stability of the region.

Azad’s comments come at a time when discussions on the rights and security of minorities, as well as the political future of Jammu and Kashmir, continue to dominate the national discourse. His call for statehood restoration aligns with the aspirations
