Government of India today declared the Kashmiri separatist Masrat Alam Bhat’s Muslim League Jammu Kashmir as an outlawed organisation under provisions of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967 with immediate effect for a period of 5 years by way of an Extraordinary notification published in the Gazette of India. Masrat Alam Bhat, who spearheaded Kashmir’s street turbulence in 2010 and has been already arrested and detained under dozens of PSA and other detention orders, has been in jail continuously after he was released by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s PDP-BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir in March 2015 but rearrested in April 2015.
