New Delhi, March 19, 2025: The Indian government has confirmed that there are no current proposals to change the retirement age of government employees. In response to an unstarred question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Dr. Jitendra Singh, stated that no such policy is under consideration.

Additionally, the government clarified that there is no policy in place to abolish vacancies created due to employee retirements, nor has there been any centrally maintained record of retirement age variations between Central and State Government employees.

Addressing concerns about demands for changes in the retirement age, the minister stated that no formal proposal has been received from the staff side of the National Council (Joint Consultative Machinery).

This statement puts to rest speculations regarding potential modifications in retirement policies for government employees.
