IMD Issues Heatwave Warning for Several Northern and Central States


New Delhi, June 5, 2024 – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning for isolated pockets across several states, including Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, East Madhya Pradesh, and Jharkhand, effective today.

The affected regions are expected to experience extreme heat conditions, with temperatures soaring above normal levels. The IMD advises residents to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses and to stay hydrated. Authorities in the impacted areas are on alert and have been urged to prepare for the anticipated rise in temperature.

The public is advised to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, particularly during peak hours, and to take protective measures such as wearing light, loose-fitting clothing and staying in shaded or air-conditioned environments whenever possible.
