On the occasion of the International Day of Yoga, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the significance and impact of Yoga both in India and across the world. Speaking from Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, he remarked on the palpable energy that Yoga brings, emphasizing its unifying and rejuvenating power. Prime Minister Modi extended his greetings to the people of India and to individuals practicing Yoga globally, highlighting its universal appeal and inclusivity of Yoga. He reflected on the historic journey of International Yoga Day, which has now reached its 10th anniversary. In 2014, PM Modi proposed the idea of an International Yoga Day at the United Nations General Assembly. This proposal was met with overwhelming support, receiving endorsements from 177 member countries—a record number at the time. This widespread support reflects the global recognition of Yoga’s benefits for physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Since its inception, International Yoga Day has been celebrated annually on June 21st, creating new records and reaching more people each year. The day has become a global phenomenon, with millions of people participating in Yoga sessions, events, and activities, promoting health, harmony, and peace.
