Jammu, Feb 1 – In a significant breakthrough, the Jammu police have arrested three key accused in connection with the murder of gangster Sumit Jandial, alias Gataru. The accused were apprehended from different locations in Delhi based on intelligence gathered from various sources.
Gataru was brutally murdered in broad daylight on January 20 at the busy Jewel Chowk area in Jammu while he was returning home to Vijaypur from Jammu. The shocking nature of the crime left the public horrified and prompted an intense police investigation.
Arrests and Investigation
A police official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that multiple suspects had already been on the rader, including some who allegedly assisted the killers. However, the major breakthrough came with the arrest of three key accused. Although the police has not still disclosed their names but a leading newspaper has flashed their names as
- Harsh – The individual whose vehicle was reportedly used in the crime.
- Abhay Partap Singh alias Mui
- Arun
Sources suggest that the accused fled to Delhi after committing the crime while concealing their weapons in Jammu. The police have also detained a few others, some of whom have a history of criminal activity, while others had no prior involvement in crimes.
Motive and Further Investigation
Police teams have been working tirelessly to uncover the motive behind the murder. As we have already published that Gataru was a prominent figure in the criminal underworld, and his assassination was the result of long-standing rivalries of the underworld leading to a chain of murders & attacks. The police is also investigating the possible involvement of a woman & 3 0thers in the case, though details have not been disclosed yet to avoid compromising the investigation.
With the arrest of these three suspects, the police believe they are closer to solving the mystery behind the murder as the police & public wants to know the gangsters as well as their financials hands behind this murder.
