Jammu Division celebrates Glory of India’s Independence by holding series of festive events
JAMMU, AUGUST 12: As the Independence Day draws closer, the celebrations across Jammu Division gained momentum with multifarious festive events being organised across all districts under the nationwide public participation programme ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’.
The celebrations witnessed installation of statues of martyrs, creation of Amrit Vatikas, plantation drives, Tiranga Rallies and tribute paying events to mark ‘Mitti ko Naman, Veeron ka Vandan’.
Kishtwar: A magnificent Tiranga Rally was organised by District Administration Kishtwar as a prelude to the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, all orchestrated under the prestigious banner of the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” Campaign in the District.
A remarkable assembly of more than 4000 participants took part in the rally, representing diverse segments of society including elected public representatives, civil society members, government officials, Educational Institutions, prominent citizens, Beopar Mandal members, school and College students and local residents of Town.. All of them joined the rally to express their shared ardor for the Nation’s Tricolor.
The rally, a striking display of patriotism and unity, was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Devansh Yadav, in presence of SSP, Khalil Ahmed Poswal; ADDC, Sham Lal, ADC Kishtwar Inderjeet Singh Parihar and other district and sectoral officers of Police and Civil Administration.
The rally embarked its journey from DC Office and traversing the vibrant Kokila Chowk Kuleed, Dak Banglow, and bustling marketplaces, culminated triumphantly at the Bus Stand amid chanting of slogans “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”,” Vande Matram” , “Hindustan Zindabad” ,” Mitti Ko Naman-Veeron Ko Vandhan and singing of Patriotic Songs.
POONCH: To celebrate the Independence Day 2023 a series of activities were conducted under “Meri Maati, Mera Desh” with the theme “Mitti Ko Naman, Veeron Ka Vandan” at Sheindara Lower Panchayat of Block Lassana.
The event was convened by Visiting Officer (Panchayat Parbhari), Jatinder Singh, Director General Floriculture Parks and Gardens Jammu under close supervision of Sarpanch Halqa, Wajahat Bukhari. The PRI members, front line workers of different departments and the public of the panchayat attended the Azadi ka Amrit Mohostav and actively participated in all the activities of the celebrations.
The Parbhari/Visiting Officer alongwith Sarpanch of the Panchayat hoisted the National Flag in the Phachayat Ghar followed by singing of National Anthem. The participants chanted Bharat Mata Ki Jai & Vande Mataram in one voice. The members of Gram Sabha were also present in the ceremony who planted saplings in the Panchayat Ghar area.
“Panch Pran” pledge was also taken in the premises of Govt. Hr. Sec. School Sheindara administered by Parbhari/Visiting Officer to PRI Members, Teachers, Students and prominent Citizens. A Plantation drive was also held where students actively took part in the drive and planted 75 plants of various varieties in the panchayat.
A mega Tiranga rally and Kalash Yatra with the Deepak (Lamp) and Kalash of Maati of the Panchayat was also organized which started from Government Hr. Sec. School Sheindara and culminated at Sheindara Market. Sarpanch Halqa led the rally by holding Deepak in his hand. PRI members, Public of the area and the staff, and a large number of students participated in the Kalash Yatra.
RAJOURI: District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal flagged off the “Har Ghar Tiranga Rally” from the Dakbunglow witnessing an overwhelming participation of citizens united by their love for the nation. Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri, Amrit Pal Singh; Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Rajeev Kumar Khajuria; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Imran Rashid Kataria; District Information Officer, Israr Bukhari and other officers, Anganwadi, Asha Workers and students and public in large numbers attended the rally which culminated at DC office.
At the start of the rally, the DC shed light on the essence of the “Har Ghar Tiranga” initiative. Urging every household to proudly hoist the national flag, the DC underlined the idea of fostering a stronger connection between citizens and their country. This initiative goes beyond a mere display of the tricolor; it encapsulates the embodiment of India’s identity, culture, and unity, he added. He expressed gratitude to all participants and urged them to continue upholding the principles that the national flag represents.
After the rally, a noteworthy plantation drive was carried out, underscoring the district’s holistic dedication towards environmental sustenance.
SAMBA: The “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign, a significant part of the Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav- celebrating India’s 75 years of Independence, witnessed a vibrant Tiranga Rally in Samba. The rally started from the Government Higher Secondary School in the border area of Ramgarh.
The impressive Tricolor Rally, representing India’s unity in diversity, was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner, Abhishek Sharma. It traversed along the International Border, passing through places like the lively Ramgarh market and ending at Ramlu village. The Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba, Mr. Benam Tosh, also joined the rally, showing strong leadership alongside other officials.
The event saw a huge gathering with thousands of enthusiastic participants, including school children, members of local government bodies, social workers, and representatives from different district departments. Ex-servicemen, who have served our country, also took part, adding a sense of honor to the event. A special ceremony, “Abhinandan Smaroh,” was held to honor the ex-servicemen, followed by a heartfelt tribute to the brave Kargil War martyr, Late Gurdeep Singh.
The Tri-Color Rally brought together officers and employees in a display of pride and patriotism.
UDHAMPUR: In connection with Independence day, a JCB and Dumper rally was organized by the Geology and Mining Department Udhampur to promote responsible and sustainable mining and “Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan ‘ under the Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign.
Deputy Commissioner, Sachin Kumar Vaishya was the chief guest, who formally flagged off the rally from Jakhani Peer Baba. The rally passed through Bharat Nagar, Sangoor Chowk, Thanda Padder, Gole mela, Kallar, Sailan Talab, Slathia Chowk, Barrian, Domail and culminated at Jakhani.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC urged all to work with dedication and honesty for the development of the nation.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Joginder Singh Jasrotia, District Mining Officer, Salam Din and other officers, besides prominent citizens including Civil Society members attended the event.
Meri Matti Mera Desh” Celebrations Gain Momentum in District Kishtwar
KATHUA: Deputy Commissioner, Kathua Rakesh Minhas inaugurated a mega Non communicable Diseases Screening camp at Sub District Hospital, Parole organised as part of ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ themed ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Celebration by the Health and Medical Education department.
A stall exhibiting the literature of National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), Anti-Malaria/Dengue measures besides registration cum distribution of Ayushman Health Card was also held.
Awareness lecture on NCD was distributed by Physician Specialist Dr.Vimal Kumar and Health Educator Ajay Kumar.
Over 250 patients were screened by the team of doctors and paramedics and provided free medicines.
The Deputy Commissioner also administered Panch Pran Pledge to all the participants followed by a plantation of a sapling in the earmarked Herbal Garden of SDH Parole.
BDC Chairman Nagri, Khazan Chand, DDC member Nagri Sandeep Majotra, DHS Jammu Dr. Rajiv K Sharma, BMO Parole Dr.Vivek Mangotra were also present.
REASI: A Kissan Mela cum Udyamshilta Utsav was held under Meri Mati Mera Desh in the District Administrative complex Reasi.
The event was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner, Babila Rakwal and Director Horticulture Jammu Ram Savak.
Around 500 farmers including entrepreneurs participated in the function where 35 stalls displaying 500 fruit samples from different parts of the District. More than 15 departments, Self Help groups of JKRLM, Co-operative societies from village Jerri Pouni and Farmer Producer Organizations participated in the Kissan-Mela and displayed their exhibits.
Entrepreneurs narrated their success stories and experiences. The participants were motivated by the entrepreneurs.
Experts from the Agriculture and allied department spoke at length regarding their welfare schemes.
RAMBAN: Beopar Mandal Ramban today organised a massive “Bike Tiranga Yatra” under ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ to pay homage to the martyrs and freedom fighters for their contributions in India’s freedom besides recognizing the services of Indian Army and other Security forces.
Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam flagged off the Bike Rally from Ramban Market which passed through different wards of the town .
The Deputy Commissioner also lit a Mitti Diya with a message ‘Ek Diya Shahido Ke Naam’ to pay tributes to the martyrs, besides participating in mitti collection Klash for Mitti Yatra.
President MC Ramban, Sunita Sumbria, ACR, Giasul Haq, President Beopar Mandal also attended the event.
YSS DEPARTMENT: “Rashtriya Dhwaj Arohan and Rashtra Gaan” event was organised at Joint Directorate of Youth Services and Sports Jammu. Joint Director Youth Services and Sports Jammu, Suram Sharma presided over the function. A traditional clay lamp was also lit on the occasion to recognize the sacrifices of National Heroes who laid down their lives while safeguarding our motherland. The National Anthem was also sung by the audience on the occasion.
Later, a plantation drive was also launched by planting a sappling in the premises of the sports office at Gandhinagar.
H&H DIRCTORATE: The Directorate of Handicrafts & Handloom, under the guidance of Vikramjeet Singh, Commissioner Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department, organised a mega event to mark ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh: Mitti ko Naman: Veeron ka Vandan’ here in Handicrafts Showroom Janipur.

Stalls of various Handicrafts/Handloom products were also exhibited on the occasion. The artisans/weavers also discussed some of the issues with the Chief Guest, . On the occasion, Registration certificates were also distributed among the artisans.
The event was organized at Jammu under the overall supervision of Assistant Director, Handloom Joginder Mangol.
On the occasion, Vikas Gupta acknowledged the efforts of artisans and their contribution to the Department. He also highlighted the milestone of getting prestigious GI tag for two of the Jammu based products viz. Basholi Painting and Chikri wood craft of Rajouri. He urged the craftsmen to register with the Department in order to avail benefits under various government schemes.
GDC Ramgarh: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit-Prabha & IQAC of Government Degree College Ramgarh organized Plantation Drive (Vasuda Vandhan) on the college campus under ‘Meri Matti Mera Desh’. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, Principal of the College was the Chief Guest. Dr. Shamsher Lal, NSS Programme Officer, motivated the NSS volunteers to participate in such activities with zeal and enthusiasm.
The event was organized by Dr. Aditi Khajuria, Convener IQAC, Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Dr. Shamsher Lal, PO NSS and Prof. Risha Kumari.
Migrants Camps: Amrit Kalash Yatra, carrying soil, was organized by Relief Organisation (Migrants) Jammu across all the migrant camps. The yatra h culminated at the Office of Camp Commandant Jagti/Muthi.
The rally witnessed a huge participation of students, members of NGO and inmates of the camps at Jagti/Muthi. The Camp Commandants led the rally in their respective jurisdiction.
About 400-500 students from the Jagti/Muthi Migrant Schools participated and also sang patriotic songs & raised slogans to hail Independent India.
