Jammu Police Suspends Two Officers: Forms SIT to Probe Youth’s Killing in Sure Chak

JAMMU, July 25, 2025: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Joginder Singh, has suspended two police officials from the District Special Branch in connection with the killing of a youth in the Sure Chak area on Thursday. The suspended officers, identified as Head Constable Baljinder Singh and Sgct. Pawan Singh, have been directed to report to the District Police Lines (DPL) Jammu and deposit their uniform articles, pending an investigation.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP), has been constituted to investigate the allegations raised by the deceased youth’s family. The action follows the registration of FIR No. 153/2025 at Satwari Police Station under sections 109(1), 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 3/27 of the Arms Act.
According to sources, the suspensions and SIT formation aim to ensure a thorough and transparent probe into the incident, which has sparked concern in the region. The Jammu and Kashmir Police have reiterated their commitment to addressing the allegations and maintaining public trust.
