J&K BANK DACHHAN THEFT CASE SOLVED: STOLEN AMMOUNT RECOVERED; TWO ACCUSED ARRESTED BY J&K POLICE

In a major breakthrough, J&K Police District Kishtwar has successfully solved the J&K Bank Dachhan theft case, arrested two accused and recovered the stolen amount.

SSP Kishtwar Sh. Javaid Iqbal Mir-JKPS stated that on February 3, 2025, a complaint was received from the Branch Manager, J&K Bank Suid, Dachhan, reporting a theft amounting to ₹19,51,600/-. Acting swiftly, FIR No. 01/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Dachhan, and an investigation was initiated.

On this a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted under the supervision of ASP (OPS) Kishtwar Sh. Nisar Khoja-JKPS. The SIT of Police Led by Dy.SP PC Dachhan Sh. Sumit Bhagat-JKPS, SHO PS Dachhan Insp. Harjeet Singh and other police personnel. The team meticulously collected evidence, analyzed CCTV footage, and its was found that the theft at J&K Bank Suid, Dachhan took place during the intervening night of 1/2 Feb., 2025.

During the course of the investigation, multiple suspects were rounded-up up for questioning. Based on sustained efforts and technical analysis, the team finally identified and arrested the main accused, who were involved behind the commission of crime. The identification of both the accused are as under:
1. Mohd Yasin, S/o Ghulam Nabi, R/o Krossa, Sounder
2. Bilal Ahmed, S/o Mohd Ramzan, R/o Lidhri, Dachhan

Upon sustained questioning, both accused confessed to their involvement in the J&K Bank theft case. Based on their disclosure, the SIT of police team, accompanied by an Executive Magistrate (EMIC), recovered stolen amount more than 14 lacs. further investigation is underway to recover the remaining amount.

It is pertinent mention therein that both the accused burnt their clothes, shoes and bag containing the bank cash with intention to destroy the important pieces of evidences. But the SIT of Police acted swiftly and recovered all evidences.

SSP Kishtwar reaffirmed that Kishtwar Police is committed in ensuring justice and maintaining law and order in the district. Further arrests and recoveries are expected as the investigation progresses. He further urges the public to remain vigilant and install CCTV at their residential places and business establishments, report any suspicious activities to help curb criminal activities in the district
