J&K DGP RR Swain Accuses Pakistan of Infiltrating Civil Society through Mainstream Politics
Jammu: J&K DGP RR Swain has made a strong statement alleging that Pakistan has successfully infiltrated various aspects of civil society in the Kashmir Valley through so-called mainstream and regional politics. Swain claimed there is substantial evidence indicating that many individuals have mastered the art of “running with the hare and hunting with the hound,” which has left the common people and security forces bewildered, frightened, and confused.
He highlighted that it had become a norm for politicians to visit the homes of killed terrorists and express public sympathy. While new recruits in terrorism were being eliminated with tacit encouragement, those who facilitated recruitment and arranged finances were seldom investigated. Swain pointed out instances where SP rank officers were arrested and imprisoned alongside terrorists for crimes they had not committed.
Swain also mentioned the 2014 drowning incident of two girls, which he described as being hijacked by “narrative terrorism,” leading to prolonged hartals and riots despite a detailed investigation by the CBI and verification by AIIMS forensics proving it was an accident.
He further alleged that mainstream political parties had begun to cultivate leaders of terror networks to further their electoral prospects, indicating a deep-rooted issue within the political landscape of the region.
