J&K POLICE ARRESTS TWO NOTORIOUS DRUG PADDLERS: RECOVERS HEROIN-LIKE SUBSTANCE ALONGWITH CASH IN KISHTWAR DISTRICT

District Police Kishtwar has achieved a significant breakthrough in its ongoing anti-drug campaign with the arrest of two notorious drug paddlers and the recovered heroin-like substance alongwith cash from their possessions.
SSP Kishtwar, Sh. Abdul Qayoom-JKPS, revealed that as part of the ongoing investigation into Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) cases in the district, special efforts have been made to identify the entire supply chain involved in the illegal trade. Acting on intelligence regarding the smuggling and sale of narcotics among the youth of Kishtwar District, a team led by SHO Police Station Kishtwar along with IC PP Shalimar, under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Kishtwar, laid a checkpoint near Shalimar, Kishtwar.
During the checking of vehicles and pedestrians, the naka team observed suspicious behavior from two individuals attempting to evade inspection. Acting swiftly, the team apprehended them, resulting in the recovery of a heroin-like substance from their possession, weighing about 5grams alongwith cash.
The arrested individuals disclosed their identities as:
1) Touheem Hussain, S/O Shahnawaz Hussain, R/O Umar Masjid Kishtwar
2) Suhail Ahmed, S/O Shabir Ahmed, R/O Banderna, Kishtwar.
In this regard, case FIR No. 225/2024 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kishtwar, and investigations are underway.
SSP Kishtwar emphasized that the investigating officer has been instructed to thoroughly examine the backward and forward linkages in the case, including scrutinizing the bank account statements of the accused persons. This is to ensure that all individuals involved in the illegal trade of narcotic substances are brought to justice under the relevant provisions of the law.
