J&K Weather Update: Rain and Snow Forecast Over Next Three Days
Srinagar, Jan 20: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has predicted scattered light to moderate rain and snow across Jammu and Kashmir over the next three days, starting Monday.
The weather is expected to remain generally cloudy, with light precipitation likely in scattered locations during the next 24 hours. A fresh spell of rain in the plains and snowfall in higher altitudes is anticipated on January 22, affecting regions like the Chenab Valley and the Pir Panjal Range. Another round of rain and snow is expected on January 23.
From January 24 to 28, the weather is forecasted to remain mostly dry, with a slight possibility of isolated rain and snow between January 29 and 31.
Temperature Update:
The night temperatures dipped significantly at several locations but remained above normal in others:
- Srinagar: Dropped to -3.2°C, 1.2°C below normal.
- Gulmarg: Stayed at -7.8°C, 2.4°C above normal for the second consecutive day.
- Pahalgam: Recorded -6.4°C, 0.1°C below normal.
- Qazigund: Settled at -3°C, 0.1°C above normal.
- Kupwara: Improved to -1.4°C, still 1.5°C above normal.
- Kokernag: Improved to -2.4°C, 1.1°C above normal.
Residents are advised to prepare for the changing weather conditions, especially in higher altitudes, as snowfall may disrupt normal life in some areas.
