JKNC has secured majority on its own in J&K Legislative Assembly with the support of 4 independent MLAs

Omar Abdullah’s Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) has secured a majority in the J&K Legislative Assembly after receiving support from four independent MLAs. This allows JKNC to form the government without the need for Congress. With 42 seats won by JKNC and the backing of the four independents, Omar Abdullah is set to become the Chief Minister. He was unanimously elected as the leader of the legislature party and will soon stake his claim to form the government.

JKNC securing a majority without Congress signals a shift in the political dynamics of Jammu and Kashmir. This strengthens JKNC’s position, allowing it to assert its own political agenda without any need to compromise with Congress. The support from independent MLAs could also influence local development policies and governance. Moreover, it weakens Congress’s influence in the region, highlighting a potential reconfiguration of alliances in J&K politics.
