JKRTC Retd. Employees’ Delegation Meets NDA Officials on Long-Standing Issues

JAMMU: A delegation of Retd. JKRTC employees, led by Shishupal Singh Slathia and Avtar Singh, met with officials from the Nations Development Association (NDA) office on 05 August 2024. The delegation discussed the long-standing issues faced by the JKRTC employees and submitted a letter to Swarn Singh, Chairman of NDA, and Sushil Singh Charak, General Secretary of NDA.

Earlier, on 16 July 2024, NDA officials, including Swarn Singh, Chairman of NDA, Sushil Singh Charak, General Secretary of NDA, and Deepak Singh, Finance Secretary, met with Ramdas Athawale, the Hon’ble Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, New Delhi. During the meeting, the Chairman and General Secretary requested the Minister to resolve the issues faced by the J&K Road Transport Corporation.

The JKRTC employees are facing several issues, including:

The corporation’s conversion from a government transport undertaking to a statutory corporation in 1976, without providing the due benefits to the employees. Non-payment of Dearness Allowances at par with other government departments.Non-implementation of the 7th Pay Commission benefits, with employees still receiving salaries based on the 6th pay commission.Pending retiral benefits for retired employees.

The JKRTC employees’ delegation requested the NDA officials to intervene and resolve these pending demands, ensuring that the employees receive the benefits enjoyed by employees of other state road transport corporations. This would enable them to live a respectful and dignified life.

Sushil Singh Charak, General Secretary of NDA, assured the delegation that they would take up the matter with the appropriate authorities and work towards resolving the issues faced by the JKRTC employees.
