Kashmira Singh, a veteran BJP leader & President of the Samba Distt announced his resignation from all posts and the basic membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)
Kashmira Singh, a veteran BJP leader and District President of the Samba district in Jammu and Kashmir, has announced his resignation from all posts and the basic membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In a resignation letter addressed to BJP Jammu and Kashmir President Ravinder Raina, Singh expressed deep disillusionment after 40 years of dedicated service to the party.
Singh began his political career as a polling booth agent and rose to prominent positions such as BJYM Samba President, BJP State Panchayati Raj Cell President, and BJP National Council Member. However, Singh’s decision to resign stems from the BJP’s choice to give an assembly election ticket to a National Conference (NC) candidate in the Samba-70 constituency, a seat that opened to the general category after 28 years of SC reservation. Singh, who has consistently fought against NC candidates since 1983, found this move unacceptable.
He criticized the party for denying him the ticket without providing any reasons, despite his long-standing commitment and service. Singh expressed frustration that the party only valued his leadership when work was needed but overlooked him when distributing tickets. He felt suffocated by the favoritism within the party and stated that his beliefs could not align with the NC candidates supported by the BJP.
Singh emphasized that he joined the BJP inspired by the ideology of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, but now feels the party has adopted the ideology of Sheikh Abdullah, which he cannot support. Due to these reasons, he has decided to step down from all his positions within the BJP with immediate effect.
