KERLA: FIVE PEOPLE, INCLUDING TWO CHILDREN, WERE KILLED WHILE HUNDREDS ARE FEARED TO BE TRAPPED AS MASSIVE LANDSLIDES HIT KERALA

Wayanad: A massive landslide occurred in several hilly areas near Meppadi in Wayanad district of Kerala on Tuesday morning, in which five people including two children were killed & hundreds of people are feared trapped.

The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) said that fire force and NDRF teams have been deployed in the affected area. It further said that another NDRF team is on its way to Wayanad.

Additionally, two teams from the Kannur Defence Security Corps have been directed to move to Wayanad to assist in rescue efforts, according to a Facebook post by the KSDMA. Notably, heavy rains are hampering rescue operations.
