Kuhnemann, a left-arm spinner, is added by Australia.
Matthew Kuhnemann, a left-arm spinner, has been brought in by Australia for the 2023 Border-Gavaskar Trophy second Test.
The legspinner will step in for Mitchell Swepson, who is leaving the touring team to give birth to his child.
If Australia decide to alter their spin combination from the first Test in Nagpur, Kuhnemann could get a look-in as early as the 17th Test in Delhi.
Australia had two offspinners going into the match, and debutant Todd Murphy also took seven wickets. They didn’t pick Ashton Agar, a left-handed orthodox spinner who is also in the India squad.
Australia conceded 400 runs on a spin-friendly surface in the first Test, losing by an innings and 132 runs.
In addition, the visitors are evaluating Cameron Green’s fitness and anticipating Mitchell Starc’s return from injury for the second Test.
Kuhnemann made his debut for Australia in June 2022, but he has only appeared in four One-Day Internationals so far.
