Lieutenant Governor Chairs 74th Meeting of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board

Reasi, 6 March: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha chaired the 74th meeting of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) at Raj Bhawan, reviewing ongoing projects and approving key initiatives to enhance pilgrim facilities.
In the meeting, attended by Board members and officials, comprehensive discussions were held on 20 key agenda items, including the redevelopment of the Bhairon Ji Temple Complex, widening of the yatra track from Sanjichhat to Bhawan, and operationalization of the Shrine Board’s Medical College at Kakryal.
Focusing on improving the pilgrimage experience, the Board approved projects like the construction of a new Exit Track, Vaishnavi Bhawan, cottages near Katra, and a helipad in collaboration with Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board. The Board also cleared an amnesty scheme to resolve longstanding disputes with shop licensees.
The LG directed officials to assess and upgrade sewage treatment capacities and increase the use of renewable energy sources like solar power within the Shrine area. He also stressed the importance of a robust feedback system to continuously enhance pilgrim services.
Recognizing the surge in annual pilgrim numbers—crossing 95 lakh last year—the Board attributed the growth to major infrastructure upgrades, including Durga Bhawan, the Skywalk, and the Queue Complex at Darshani Deodi.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the LG inaugurated several new facilities, such as the upgraded Queue Complex at Darshani Deodi, Banganga, and a Holding Area at Adhkuwari, aimed at easing congestion and improving crowd management. Additionally, 50gm and 100gm silver coins featuring Goddess Mata Vaishno Devi Ji were launched for devotees.
The meeting concluded with a review of the Shrine Board’s affiliated institutions and a commitment to continue expanding facilities to ensure a smooth and enriching pilgrimage experience.
