Loco Pilot Reports Explosion-Like Sound Before Dibrugarh Express Derailment: 4 people died, 20 injured, Railways Initiate Probe

In a tragic incident near Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district on Thursday, the Dibrugarh Express derailed, resulting in the death of at least four people and injuring 20 others. The derailment involved eight bogies of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express between the Motiganj and Jhilahi railway stations.

Railway sources revealed that one of the train’s loco pilots, Tribhuvan, reported hearing a loud explosion-like sound just before the accident occurred. Both loco pilots of the train are reported to be safe.

The Railways have launched a probe into the incident to determine the cause of the derailment and the nature of the explosion-like sound heard by the loco pilot.
