LoP Sunil Sharma Meets Amit Shah, Discusses Key Issues in J&K

New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, Sunil Sharma, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss critical issues affecting the region. The meeting held special significance given J&K’s current political and security situation.During the discussions, Sharma raised serious concerns about the growing drug menace in J&K, emphasizing the increasing addiction problem. He also pushed for key mega-projects in Jammu province, particularly in road connectivity and tourism. In response, Shah assured that the central government would look into these demands and take necessary action.Another key issue raised by Sharma was the strengthening and expansion of Village Defence Committees (VDCs) and Village Defence Guards (VDGs), which play a crucial role in combating terrorism. He cited the recent terror attack in Kulgam, where an ex-serviceman’s family was targeted, and demanded complete rehabilitation and education support for the victims’ families.Amit Shah assured full support to address the issues highlighted by Sharma. The Union Home Minister also announced his plan to meet all BJP MLAs from Jammu and Kashmir, a move expected to strengthen the party’s presence in the region and address lawmakers’ concerns.Discussions also covered the upcoming J&K Assembly budget session, the current political landscape, and law & order issues, particularly in Jammu district.
