Major Update on Kathua Encounter: Six Arrested for Aiding Militants

Kathua: In a significant development, security forces have arrested six individuals for allegedly assisting terrorists in their movement from Sanyal in Hiranagar to Juthana in Rajbagh. The arrests were made in the jurisdiction of Rajbagh Police Station, revealing a deep-rooted network of overground workers aiding militancy in the region.

The Arrested Individuals

The arrested persons include four women and two men, all members of the family of Mohammad Latif. This family has long been under scrutiny for allegedly providing shelter and logistical support to militants.

Their involvement in terror-related activities dates back to an encounter that took place 15 years ago in the same area. At that time, security forces had neutralized a foreign militant, Abu Tala, who had infiltrated from Pakistan and was residing in Mohammad Latif’s house.

Mohammad Latif was subsequently jailed, but his family continued working as overground operatives for terrorist groups.

Links to the Badnota Terror Attack

The recent arrests have also brought new insights into the terror attack that occurred on July 9 in the Badnota area, situated between Basoli and Billawar. During the attack, a group of terrorists ambushed an army unit martyred 6 soldiers before fleeing.

Intelligence agencies later uncovered that individuals were tracking the movements of security forces and providing crucial information to militants, enabling the attack.

At that time, the name of Mohammad Yunus surfaced in the investigation.

The Juthana Operation

During the latest counter-terror operation in Juthana, it was found that Mohammad Latif’s family, including his two sons, Mohammad Yunus and Riyaz, along with their wives Mahima, Safiya, Zarina and Sarvajan, had been actively aiding the militants.

Reports suggest they guided the terrorists from Dholka in Sanyal to Safaain in Juthana.

These five militants took shelter in their home and launched attacks on security forces. In the ensuing encounter, four police personnel lost their lives, while two militants were also neutralized. The remaining three terrorists managed to escape and later kidnapped a boy in a desperate bid to get food on gunpoint in Rui Village. The boy later escaped miraculously from their detention.

Massive Security Operation Underway

Currently, security forces, including the National Security Guard (NSG) and Para Commandos, have cordoned off the entire area. The terrain, filled with ravines and nullahs, poses a significant challenge in locating the fleeing militants.

Intelligence suggests that more terrorists may be hiding in the region, possibly connected to the militants who escaped after the Badnota attack and were never traced.

Authorities believe that the recent arrests will lead to more breakthroughs in understanding militant movements in the region. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional arrests are expected in the coming days as security agencies intensify their crackdown on terror networks operating in the region.

कठुआ: सुरक्षा बलों ने आतंकवादियों को हीरानगर के सन्याल से राजबाग के थाना क्षेत्र तक पहुँचाने में मदद करने के आरोप में छह लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया है। गिरफ्तारियाँ राजबाग पुलिस स्टेशन के अधिकार क्षेत्र में हुईं, जिससे क्षेत्र में आतंकवाद को सहायता देने वाले एक गहरे नेटवर्क का खुलासा हुआ है।

गिरफ्तार किए गए लोग

गिरफ्तार किए गए छह लोगों में चार महिलाएँ और दो पुरुष शामिल हैं, जो मोहम्मद लतीफ के परिवार के सदस्य हैं। यह परिवार लंबे समय से संदेह के घेरे में था, क्योंकि उन पर आतंकवादियों को शरण और रसद सहायता देने के आरोप लगे थे। इनकी आतंकवादी गतिविधियों में संलिप्तता 15 साल पहले हुई मुठभेड़ से जुड़ी हुई है, जब सुरक्षा बलों ने इसी इलाके में एक विदेशी आतंकवादी अबू ताला को मार गिराया था। अबू ताला पाकिस्तान से घुसपैठ कर मोहम्मद लतीफ के घर में रह रहा था। इस मुठभेड़ के बाद, मोहम्मद लतीफ को जेल भेज दिया गया था, लेकिन उनका परिवार अब भी आतंकवादियों के लिए काम कर रहा था।

बदनौता आतंकवादी हमले से संबंध

हाल ही में की गई गिरफ्तारी से 9 जुलाई को बसोली और बिलावर के बीच स्थित बदनौता क्षेत्र में हुए आतंकी हमले के बारे में भी नई जानकारी मिली है। इस हमले में आतंकवादियों के एक समूह ने सेना की टुकड़ी पर हमला किया आर्मी जवानों को मार डाला था और फिर फरार हो गए।

खुफिया एजेंसियों को बाद में पता चला कि कुछ लोग सेना की गतिविधियों पर नजर रख रहे थे और आतंकवादियों को उनकी स्थिति की जानकारी दे रहे थे, जिससे यह हमला संभव हो पाया।

उस समय, मोहम्मद लतीफ का नाम भी इस जांच में सामने आया था।

जुठाना ऑपरेशन

हालिया आतंकवाद-रोधी अभियान के दौरान यह सामने आया कि मोहम्मद लतीफ का परिवार, जिसमें उनके दो बेटे मोहम्मद यूनुस और रियाज़, उनकी पत्नियाँ माहीमा, सफ़िया जरीना और सरवजान शामिल हैं, सक्रिय रूप से आतंकवादियों की सहायता कर रहे थे।

इस मुठभेड़ में चार पुलिसकर्मी शहीद हो गए, जबकि दो आतंकवादियों को मार गिराया गया। तीन आतंकवादी फरार होने में कामयाब रहे और उन्होंने बाद में एक घर से गन पॉइंट पर रोटी खाई और उनके एक लड़के का अपहरण कर लिया। यह घटना रुई गांव में दर्ज हुई थी।

बड़े पैमाने पर सुरक्षा अभियान जारी

वर्तमान में, राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा गार्ड (NSG) और पैरा कमांडो सहित सुरक्षा बलों ने पूरे क्षेत्र को घेर लिया है। इस इलाके का पहाड़ी और नाले से भरा भूगोल आतंकवादियों को पकड़ने में बड़ी चुनौती पेश कर रहा है।
