Mehbooba Mufti Launches Attack on AIP Leader Engineer Rashid

In a significant political development ahead of the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, former Chief Minister and President of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (JKPDP), Mehbooba Mufti, has launched a scathing attack on Engineer Rashid, the jailed leader of the Awami Ittehad Party (AIP).

During a public address, Mufti claimed that only her party, along with the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) and Indian National Congress (INC), are genuinely fighting for and representing the interests of the people of Kashmir. This marks her first direct attack on Engineer Rashid, in which she alleged that his party is being “funded and supported” to divide the Kashmir vote. According to Mufti, this strategy is aimed at weakening the pro-Kashmir voices after other proxy parties crumbled in the recent Lok Sabha elections.

Mufti’s statement comes at a time when political tensions are high in the region, with several parties vying for influence as the Assembly elections approach. The accusations against Engineer Rashid and his party are likely to further escalate the political discourse in Jammu and Kashmir. The fear psychosis is so high in the dynastic parties that even Omar Abdullah is contesting from the 2 seats in the elections & removed his cap & made an emotional speech for the votes at GANDERBAL.
