Minister Javed Ahmed Rana Assures J&K Casual Labourers of Action on Demands, Committee to Address Grievances

Srinagar, April 14, 2025: Jammu and Kashmir’s Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, today assured casual laborers working across various government departments that their genuine demands are under active consideration by the UT administration. The minister’s statement came during a meeting with representatives of the Jammu and Kashmir Casual Labour United Front (JKCLUF) on Monday morning.

Addressing the delegation, Minister Rana announced that a high-level committee, headed by the Chief Secretary, has been constituted to examine and resolve the grievances of casual laborers. “The government is committed to addressing your legitimate concerns. The committee is working diligently to ensure fair and timely solutions,” he said.

The JKCLUF representatives raised issues related to job regularization, timely wages, and better working conditions during the discussions. The minister listened attentively and assured the delegation that the government is sensitive to their plight and is taking concrete steps to provide relief.

The meeting reflects the UT administration’s efforts to engage with workers and address long-standing issues faced by casual laborers in J&K. Rana reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring dignity and security for all workers, emphasizing that their contributions to the region’s development are valued.

The JKCLUF welcomed the minister’s assurance and expressed hope that the committee’s recommendations would lead to meaningful outcomes. The development marks a positive step towards resolving the concerns of thousands of casual laborers across the Union Territory.
