Jammu, May 29, 2025: Rattan Lal Gupta, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) provincial president, on Thursday encouraged tourists and pilgrims from across India to visit Jammu and Kashmir without fear, emphasizing that the region is safe and welcoming.

Gupta highlighted Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s recent initiatives, including high-level government meetings held at popular tourist destinations, Pahalgam and Gulmarg, to promote tourism and instill confidence among visitors. Following a Cabinet and tour operators’ meeting in Pahalgam, Abdullah conducted another meeting with top officials in Gulmarg, Baramulla district, on Wednesday, aiming to reassure tourists and enhance their experience.

“We warmly invite tourists and pilgrims visiting Mata Vaishno Devi or Baba Amarnath to explore Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Sonmarg, and other scenic destinations. There is no need for fear,” Gupta told reporters in Jammu.

Addressing questions about NC chief Farooq Abdullah playing golf and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah cycling, Gupta said, “These actions, along with the meetings in Pahalgam and Gulmarg, send a clear message to tourists and the public to visit Jammu and Kashmir in large numbers. Everything is normal, and these efforts are meant to dispel any fears.”

He urged visitors to ignore terrorist threats, stating, “Jammu and Kashmir remains a paradise—come and enjoy its beauty.”

Regarding the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, Gupta appealed to pilgrims to participate fearlessly and in large numbers, noting that their presence would counter the malicious intentions of terrorists and their supporters across the border.

In a separate development, prominent activist Kuldeep Raj Sharma, who recently left the BJP, joined the National Conference during a function in Jammu, attended by Gupta.
