NDA and MSW Meet Agriculture Minister to Address Long-Standing Issues of Basmati Rice Farmers in RS Pura, Bishnah, Jammu

New Delhi, 15 July 2024: A delegation of Nations Development Association (NDA) and Marshal Society Welfare Society, representing the farmers of RS Pura, Bishnah, Jammu, met with the Honorable Minister of Agriculture and Agro, Government of India, to request a fair price for premium quality Basmati rice produced by the farmers.

Despite cultivating high-quality rice, the farmers are struggling to receive a fair price, resulting in minimal profit margins. The delegation urged the Minister to intervene and address the long-standing issue by fixing a remunerative Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Basmati rice, ensuring timely procurement by government agencies, providing incentives for productivity and quality enhancement, and promoting international trade of Basmati rice from RS Pura, Bishnah, Jammu, under the government’s export promotion schemes.
