New Delhi: Manipur CM N. Biren Singh Resigns Amid Ongoing Tensions

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has resigned from his post. Before stepping down, he reportedly met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi today. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs has placed all security agencies on high alert.

CM Biren Singh, along with BJP MP Sambit Patra, ministers of the Manipur government, and several MLAs, visited the Raj Bhavan to meet the Governor. Following this meeting, he submitted his resignation.

Manipur has been witnessing escalating tensions between the Meitei and Kuki communities, leading to multiple violent clashes. These conflicts have resulted in hundreds of deaths and forced thousands to flee their homes. Over the past few months, large-scale violence has continued, causing significant casualties. In response, the central government has deployed additional security forces to bring the situation under control.
