No Proposal to Declare Old City Jammu as Heritage City: Government

Jammu, March 17: The government has clarified that there is currently no proposal to declare Old City Jammu as a Heritage City.
Minister for Health and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo, made the statement while replying on behalf of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to a query raised by legislator Yudhvir Sethi. She confirmed that no such proposal is under consideration in the concerned department at present.
The clarification comes amid growing demands for preserving the historic and cultural significance of Old City Jammu. However, the government has yet to take any formal steps toward granting it heritage status.
