Omar Abdullah Mocks AAP-Congress Rift Amid BJP’s Delhi Sweep on X

Omar Abdullah, the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and vice president of the National Conference, recently expressed his frustration over the internal conflicts within the opposition INDIA alliance, particularly between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress. In light of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) significant lead in the Delhi Assembly elections, Abdullah shared a GIF on X (formerly Twitter) featuring a hermit saying in Hindi, “Jee bhar kar lado… samapt kar do ek dusre ko!” (Fight to your heart’s content… finish each other off!). He captioned the post with, “Aur lado aapas mein!!” (Keep fighting among yourselves!!), highlighting his disapproval of the discord between AAP and Congress.
This isn’t the first time Abdullah has voiced concerns about the lack of unity within the INDIA bloc. Last month, he suggested that if the alliance was intended solely for the Lok Sabha elections, it should be dissolved, emphasizing the absence of clarity regarding its leadership and agenda. He stated, “As far as I recall, there was no time limit attached to it. Unfortunately, no meetings of the INDIA bloc are being called. So, there is no clarity—neither on the leadership nor the agenda or whether we will remain there in future or not.”
The Delhi Assembly elections have seen AAP and Congress, both members of the INDIA alliance, contesting separately & this lead to their defeat & clean sweep of BJP.
Abdullah’s remarks highlights his concern that internal rivalries within the opposition are undermining their collective ability to effectively challenge the BJP.
