Omar Abdullah Pledges to Repeal PSA in National Conference Manifesto

Srinagar, August 30, 2024: In a significant statement ahead of the upcoming Assembly Elections, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) Vice President Omar Abdullah has criticized the misuse of the Public Safety Act (PSA) and other laws in the region. Addressing a gathering in Srinagar, Abdullah expressed deep concern over the alleged harassment of youth under these laws.

“The youth has been harassed without any reason,” Abdullah stated. “Different laws were used against them. After the local jails were full, they kept the youth in jails outside Jammu and Kashmir. The PSA was misused rashly.”

He further asserted that the JKNC, if voted to power, is committed to revoking the PSA to prevent its misuse in the future. “We have promised in our manifesto that we will remove the PSA if the National Conference comes to power so that it cannot be misused again,” Abdullah declared.
