PM Modi Accuses Congress and INDI Alliance of “Conspiring” Against Kashmir with Resolution on Article 370

Dhule, Maharashtra, November 8, 2024 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a public rally in Dhule, accused the Congress party and the INDI alliance of plotting against Kashmir by pushing for the restoration of Article 370. PM Modi alleged that upon gaining power in Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress-led INDI alliance wasted no time in initiating “conspiracies” against the region’s stability.

“As soon as Congress and the INDI alliance got the chance to form a government in J&K, they started with their conspiracies against Kashmir,” PM Modi stated. “Just two days ago, they passed a resolution in the J&K legislative assembly to restore Article 370.”

The Prime Minister’s remarks follow recent debates in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, where the National Conference, an INDI alliance member, proposed a resolution to reinstate Article 370, which previously granted special autonomy to the region before its abrogation in 2019. PM Modi criticized this move, asserting that the BJP remains firm in its stance to maintain the region’s integration with India.

PM Modi’s comments have added further fuel to the ongoing debate over Article 370, a topic that has sharply divided political opinions across the country and especially within Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP has reiterated its opposition to any attempt to reverse the abrogation, while Congress and the INDI alliance have come under fire from BJP leaders for allegedly supporting policies seen as a threat to national unity.
