Punjab Police Busts Major Cross-Border Drugs Smuggling Racket: 30 Kg Heroin Seized

Amritsar, February 14, 2025: In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, the Amritsar Rural Police have busted a cross-border smuggling racket, seizing 30 kg of heroin and apprehending a key smuggler involved in large-scale drug operations.

According to officials, the accused had recently received a massive consignment of heroin that was smuggled into India using drones from Pakistan. The police also confiscated a car used in the illegal operations.

The intelligence-led operation was carried out by the Amritsar Rural Police, following a detailed investigation into the movement of narcotics along the Indo-Pak border. The arrested smuggler is believed to be part of a larger network involved in drug trafficking across international borders.

A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Police Station Gharinda, and further investigations are underway to track down other individuals linked to the network.

The Punjab Police have reiterated their commitment to dismantling drug smuggling operations and ensuring strict action against those involved in the illicit trade. Authorities are now working to trace the origins of the consignment and identify more operatives connected to this syndicate.
