Samba, February 12: Samba Police has today foiled three bovine smuggling attempts in early morning hours, arrested four bovine smugglers, rescued eleven bovines and seized three vehicles in the jurisdiction of Police Station Samba and Police Station Ghagwal.
A Police party of Police Station Samba during vehicle checking duty at naka Mansar Morh Samba, intercepted two Mahindra load carrier vehicles bearing registration Nos JK14J-0739 and JK22C-4529 for checking which were coming from Samba side and moving towards Udhampur side via Mansar road. During checking of both the said vehicles, three bovines in each vehicle were found laden inside and were being transported illegally without any valid permission. All the six bovines have been rescued and both the vehicles have been seized.
The bovine smuggles identified as Junaid Ahmed S/o Mohd. Munshi R/o Thill Roun tehsil and district Udhampur, Farooq Ahmed Malik S/o Abdul Aziz Malik R/o Chambalwas Banihal district Ramban and two ladies have been arrested.
A case FIR No 42/2024 U/S 188 IPC and FIR No 43/2024 U/S 188 IPC have been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started.
Similarly, a Police party of Police Station Ghagwal during vehicle checking duty at naka NHW Tapyal, intercepted a Mahindra load carrier without regd. No. coming from Kathua side for checking. During checking of the vehicle, five bovines were found laden inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally without any valid permission. However, driver of the vehicle managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of the darkness.
All the rescued bovines have been shifted to a safer place and the vehicle used for the transportation of bovines has also been seized.
A case FIR No. 18/2024 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act, has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started.
