SAMBA POLICE ARRESTS NOTORIOUS BOVINE SMUGGLER “IQBAL” WHO USED HP GAS TANKER FOR BOVINE SMUGGLING ;

77 BOVINE SMUGGLERS ARRESTED, 62 FIRs REGISTERED IN FIVE MONTHS : SSP SAMBA BENAM TOSH

Samba, June 28 : Under the overall supervision of SSP Samba Benam Tosh, Police has arrested notorious bovine smuggler “Iqbal” who adopted unique modus operandi and used HP gas tanker for bovine smuggling two days ago. HP gas tanker loaded with bovine animals stands already seized by police after registering FIR.

Arrested notorious bovine smuggler has been identified as Mohd. Iqbal s/o Rashid Ahmed r/o Katal Brahmana tehsil Hiranagar district Kathua A/P Chak Manga, Samba.

The bovine smuggler attempted to smuggle bovines by using bizarre modus operandi of loading bovine animals in HP gas tanker in order to escape from the naka points and to dodge police, but alert Samba Police foiled bovine smuggling attempt and arrested notorious bovine smuggler. A case FIR No. 159/2023 u/s 188/429 IPC, 11 PCA has been registered at Police Station Samba and further investigation is underway.

Interestingly, the notorious bovine smuggler who was himself driving the HP gas tanker did not stop even after tyre of the tanker got burst due to heavy load of bovines at Samba bridge and continued dragging the big tanker till it caught fire due to friction near Supwal which was however doused immediately after police reached the spot & called in fire tenders. Police rescued the bovine animals and took legal action. However, the shrewed bovine smuggler “Iqbal” managed to flee from the spot. Police conducted series of raids in Kathua and Samba areas & arrested him within 72 hours thereby unearthing his unique modus operandi. Some more arrests are likely in this case as investigation is being pursed vigorously. The police team led by IC PP Supwal, PSI Deepika Jalotra arrested the accused.

Total 77 bovine smugglers have been arrested by Samba Police in five months after the launch of special drive on the directions of SSP Samba Benam Tosh, sixty two (62) FIRs have been registered against bovine smugglers, fifty two (52) vehicles used for bovine smuggling have been seized and six hundred thirty eight (638) bovine animals have been rescued in Samba district.
