SAMBA POLICE FOILS BOVINE SMUGGLING BID; RESCUES 15 BOVINES, SEIZES VEHICLE

Samba, December 26: Continuing its drive against bovine smugglers and their propagators, Samba Police in successive day has foiled yet another bovine smuggling attempt in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal, rescued fifteen bovines from the clutches of bovine smugglers and seized vehicle used for illegal transportation of bovines.

A Police team of Police Station Ghagwal headed by SHO PS Ghagwal while performing vehicle checking duty at NHW Naka Tapyal, signaled to stop a Truck bearing registration No. JK02AB-9535 coming from Kathua side for checking. But the driver instead of stopping the vehicle, accelerated the speed and tried to flee away from the spot. The alert police party successfully chased the vehicle and intercepted it at some distance away from Naka point.

During checking of the vehicle, fifteen bovines were found laden inside which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally without any valid permission. All the rescued bovines have been shifted to a safer place.

A case FIR No. 181/2024 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
