SAMBA POLICE ORGANISES WORKSHOP ON EVIDENCE HANDLING IN INQUEST PROCEEDINGS
Samba January 15: Samba Police, in collaboration with AIIMS Vijaypur, Jammu, has organized a one-day workshop at the District Police Lines Samba focused on evidence handling in inquest proceedings.
The workshop saw participation from Gazetted Officers, SHOs, Investigating Officers and other officers/officials of Samba Police. The primary objective was to raise awareness and educate officers on the critical measures to be taken when handling dead bodies during investigations.
The AIIMS Vijaypur team, led by Dr. Dinesh Rao (Incharge Forensic), along with Dr. Vatun Chandran and Harpreet Singh, provided valuable insights into essential protocols and procedures when dealing with cases such as suicides, hangings, overdose fatalities, and inquest proceedings. The experts also discussed the precautions and steps for evidence collection in these cases.
During the programme, an interactive session was also held in which queries from the participants were well addressed by the resource persons from AIIMS.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Samba said that the aim of organizing such workshop is to bring more professionalism in investigations and to improve the skill set of officers handling such sensitive cases.
At the conclusion of the workshop, SSP Samba expressed gratitude to the AIIMS team and presented mementos to each member as a token of appreciation for their contribution to the workshop.
