Samba, Oct 3 : Continuing its drive against the sale of illicit liquor, Samba Police has recovered 49 bottles of illicit liquor in the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur.
A police party of Police Station Vijaypur while on patrolling duty in Vijaypur area during night hours has recovered 49 bottles of 180 ml each of JK Special Whisky which were being sold near Matador Stand Vijaypur Ramgarh road by one Pankaj Sharma @ Batly s/o Ram Dass r/o Gurha Morh Vijaypur to the general public at exorbitant rates to gain illegitimate profit. However the accused managed to escape from the spot on seeing the police party.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 134/2023 U/S 48 (f) Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Vijaypur and investigation started to nab the accused.
It is pertinent to mention here that yesterday was the “Dry Day” and the accused was taking advantage of it to sell the illicit liquor to the general public in the area at higher rates. The whole operation was carried out by SHO Police Station Vijaypur Inspr Sandeep Charak under the supervision of SDPO Vijaypur Rohit Kumar and Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary.
