Satish Sharma Discusses Major Development Projects with Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw

New Delhi, January 6: Satish Sharma, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Transport, Youth Services and Sports, Information & Technology, Science and Technology, and ARI & Trainings, held a crucial meeting with Union Minister for Railways, Information Broadcasting, and Electronics & IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw. The discussion focused on significant infrastructure and technological advancements for Jammu & Kashmir.

During the meeting, Satish Sharma thanked the Union Minister for his consistent support in fostering the development of J&K. He raised critical demands, including:

  1. Railway Infrastructure Expansion:

Extension of the railway line from Jammu to Poonch via Akhnoor, Chhamb, Sunderbani, and Nowshera.

Further extension of the railway line from Baramulla to Uri and Kupwara.

  1. IT and Technological Advancements:

Establishment of IT corporate parks in Jammu and Srinagar to create job opportunities for IT professionals.

Setting up district and tehsil-level data centers.

Creation of a State Emergency Operation Centre and upgrading the State Wide Area Network (SWAN) 2.0 to improve internet connectivity.

Augmentation of Common Service Centers (CSCs) and the establishment of electronic manufacturing units by leading multinational companies.

Facilities similar to the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) in J&K.

Implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) across government departments and a Content Delivery Network (CDN) for efficient digital services.

  1. Broadening Developmental Initiatives:
    Satish Sharma emphasized the need for additional developmental programs to ensure equitable access to facilities across J&K and bring the region on par with metropolitan cities.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw assured that the Central Government remains committed to accelerating J&K’s development and would give due consideration to the issues and demands raised.
