Security heightened in Jammu and Kashmir Amid Infiltration Reports in Akhnoor, Sunderbani and Article 370 Anniversary
Jammu and Kashmir – On August 5, heightened security measures were observed in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in the Battal sector of Akhnoor, as personnel conducted a search operation following reports of suspicious infiltrator movement. Army troops reportedly opened fire upon detecting two groups of infiltrators along the Line of Control (LoC) in Akhnoor and Sunderbani sectors in the early hours of Monday.
The increased security is also linked to the fifth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, which on August 5, 2019, ended Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and statehood, reorganizing it into two Union Territories: Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. The region remains on high alert as security forces continue to monitor the situation closely, aiming to prevent any potential security breaches amid ongoing tensions. The anniversary of the Article 370 abrogation has further amplified security concerns and vigilance in the area.
