Shocking Incident: Suspected Thief Paraded with Shoe Garland in Jammu
Jammu, June 24, 2025: A disturbing case has emerged in Jammu where a young man, suspected of theft, was publicly paraded through the city with a garland of shoes around his neck. The incident, which took place outside a hospital in Jammu city, occurred with the consent and presence of police personnel, adding to the controversy.
Bakshi Nagar Police Station SHO Azad Manhas revealed that the accused is a notorious member of a gang from Kashmir. He was reportedly under the influence of drugs at the time of his arrest, following a prolonged chase by the police team. The suspect is linked to a recent robbery where he allegedly stole Rs 40,000 from a person buying medicines a few days ago. The victim identified the accused, who had also attacked him with a knife during the robbery, leaving the victim severely injured. The scuffle resulted in the victim’s shirt being torn, which was witnessed by a patrolling police team.
The police pursued the suspect for a considerable distance before apprehending him. During the chase, a crowd gathered and surrounded the accused from all sides. The Jammu and Kashmir Police have labeled the public parading as unprofessional conduct, prompting the District Police Headquarters to order a preliminary inquiry. The matter has been entrusted to SDPO City North, Jammu, who is required to submit findings within a week. The order, issued by Sr. Superintendent of Police Joginder Singh, has been circulated to relevant police officials for necessary action.
