Srinagar Conclave on Urban Planning Reforms
Srinagar, July 4, 2024 – The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha, addressed the High-Level Committee on Urban Planning at the Srinagar Conclave, organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), India. The two-day event gathered representatives from all states, along with urban planners and experts, to contribute recommendations for the committee’s final report on urban planning reforms across the country.
In his address, Shri Sinha emphasized the need for developing future-ready cities. He called upon town planners, urban designers, and experts to prioritize resilient urban planning, especially in the face of extreme weather events, climate change, and unpredictable weather patterns. He firmly opined that the primary goal is to create sustainable, inclusive, resilient, and safe cities that cater to the needs of the people while effectively addressing economic, social, and climate challenges.”Achieving this vision requires the collective efforts of all stakeholders and the community to unlock urban potential,” Shri Sinha stated.
The conclave provided a platform for extensive deliberations, with experts and representatives sharing insights and strategies to drive forward urban planning reforms in India.
