Stampede at Mahakumbh During Mauni Amavasya: 10 Dead, Several Injured

Prayagraj: A tragic incident occurred at the Sangam Ghat during the Mauni Amavasya Amrit Snan at the Mahakumbh, where a stampede led to the death of 10 people, while several others sustained injuries.

As per reports, the stampede broke out after barricades were removed near about 3 AM allowing a large number of devotees to rush towards the Sangam Ghat for the sacred bath. The situation quickly escalated, resulting in chaos and casualties.

Due to the stampede, the ritual bath of 13 Akharas was temporarily halted. However, authorities & Akhara Parishads have assured that the sacred bathing will resume shortly near after 11 AM with less ‘Laav Lashkar’. The sacred bathing has again started for common people.

CM Yogi Adityanath Appeals for Calm
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has urged all pilgrims to remain at their respective ghats and cooperate with the administration. “All devotees are requested to take their holy dip at the designated ghats to ensure safety,” the CM said in an official statement.

The administration is actively managing the situation and providing medical aid to the injured. Authorities have advised people to follow safety protocols and avoid overcrowding.
