Swift Relief Measures for Abi Gurpora Fire Victims Announced by CM Omar Abdullah
Srinagar, November 20: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has announced immediate and comprehensive relief measures for the families affected by the devastating fire in Abi Gurpora, which destroyed numerous homes and displaced 26 families.
In response to the tragedy, the Chief Minister dispatched Cabinet Minister Satish Sharma, Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani (Sogami Sahib), and MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq to the site to assess the damage and oversee relief operations.
The government has already disbursed ₹20,000 in cash assistance to each family as an immediate measure. Further relief includes ₹1.30 lakh per household from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), along with essential items such as tents, utensils, and blankets.
Additionally, every family will receive ₹1 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. By this evening, they will be provided with three months’ worth of rations, stoves, and gas cylinders to ensure basic sustenance. MLA Tanvir Sadiq has also pledged further aid from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
“We are committed to standing with the affected families during this difficult time and ensuring their swift rehabilitation,” stated Omar Abdullah.
Relief measures are being implemented on a war footing to provide immediate respite and long-term recovery for the victims.
