BJP National General Secretary and Incharge for the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Mr. Tarun Chugh, has raised the issue of constructing a flyover in the Kunjwani, Sainik Colony, Channi Himmat, and Narwal sectors of Jammu with Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Mr. Nitin Gadkari. This flyover is part of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway project, which aims to facilitate a seamless journey for pilgrims traveling to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi.During a meeting with a delegation from the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Chugh emphasized the necessity of the flyover to avoid disrupting the densely populated area that includes schools, hospitals, markets, and transportation hubs. The delegation, led by President Arun Gupta, stressed that constructing the flyover on pillars would prevent major disruptions to local businesses and essential services.

Mr. Chugh has requested a BJP delegation, led by former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta and former MLC Vikram Randhawa, to meet with Mr. Gadkari in Srinagar to discuss the issue further. Senior BJP leaders and trade representatives will accompany them to emphasize the project’s importance. Additionally, MP Jugal Kishore Sharma has written to Mr. Gadkari, underscoring the public significance of this matter.

Previously, a delegation of prominent citizens and traders from the affected areas, led by senior BJP leader Devender Singh Rana, had also met with Mr. Gadkari. They requested that the National Highway Authority of India consider the public’s concerns, to which the Minister assured that necessary instructions would be issued to address the issue.
