Three Terrorists Killed in Kishtwar Encounter Amid Heightened Security Efforts in J&K
Kishtwar, Apr 13: In a significant breakthrough against terrorism, security forces gunned down three terrorists in an encounter in the upper reaches of Kishtwar district, even as Jammu and Kashmir remains on high alert following recent statements by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on cross-border terror threats.

According to police sources, the encounter took place in the forested region of Chingam, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Chhatroo. The bodies of the three slain terrorists were recovered from the site, and further formalities are being carried out.

The bodies will be laid to rest in village Dugadda, PS Chhatroo, Kishtwar, as per the established protocol for unidentified or foreign terrorists.

This operation comes close on the heels of Rajouri Day celebrations, during which LG Sinha warned of the “enemy nation” continuously pushing terrorists into J&K to disturb peace. He urged for unified efforts to eradicate terrorism and its sympathisers, highlighting the critical role of public cooperation alongside the Indian Army, CAPFs, and J&K Police.

Officials say the successful Kishtwar operation is a testament to increased coordination and intelligence-based action by the security forces. It also underlines the continued threat posed by infiltrators and sleeper cells in the region, even as Jammu and Kashmir pushes forward on the path of development and stability.
Security has been tightened across sensitive areas, especially in the Pir Panjal and Chenab Valley regions, to prevent any retaliatory actions or infiltration attempts in the wake of the encounter.
