Tragic Fire at Delhi Baby Care Hospital Claims Seven Newborns’ Lives

Delhi, May 26, 2024 – A devastating fire broke out at the New Born Baby Care Children’s Hospital in Vivek Vihar, East Delhi, late last night, claiming the lives of at least seven newborns. The Delhi Fire Services received a distress call at 11:32 pm and immediately dispatched 16 fire tenders to the scene.

According to officials, the fire originated due to multiple oxygen cylinder explosions within the hospital. Despite the rapid response, the blaze had already caused significant damage by the time firefighters arrived. Twelve newborns were rescued from the first floor of the building, but tragically, seven of them succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment. Five other children are currently being treated at the hospital.

The incident has shocked the community and raised serious concerns about safety standards in healthcare facilities. Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosions and evaluating the hospital’s adherence to fire safety protocols. The owner of the baby care is on run.

This tragedy underscores the critical need for stringent safety measures and regular audits to prevent such catastrophic events in the future.

The Govt has ordered the enquiry into the incident.
